Valentine’s Day and Braces

Valentines Day and Braces

February 14th (aka Valentine’s Day) is around the corner and all the stores are full of Valentine’s Day treats; red, heart shaped boxes full of sugary treats, cinnamon hearts, chocolate caramels and love hearts.

As we all know, none of you EVER eat those kinds of candy because they are not good for your braces 😬 so we have gathered a list of braces friendly, Valentine’s Day gift suggestions;

  • Soft chocolate and truffles
  • Flowers
  • Gift certificates for manicure/pedicure
  • Dinner and a movie (no popcorn)
  • Ice cream cake
  • Chocolate covered strawberries
  • Candles
  • Stuffed animals
  • Homemade cards and gifts

Chocholate Mousse for Braces on Valentine's DayTry this Chocolate Mousse

Courtesy of Chef Ramsey

150 g dark chocolate
250 ml sour cream
284 ml whipping cream
25g icing sugar, sifted

Directions:
Break the dark chocolate into small pieces (reserving 25g for grating later) and place in a bowl that fits snugly over a pan of boiling water. Leave until the chocolate has completely melted and then remove from the heat and set aside.

Add the sour cream to the melted chocolate and whisk until combined. Put the whipping cream and icing sugar into a separate bowl and whisk with an electric whisk until it forms soft peaks. Fold the chocolate mixture into the cream and stir to combine.

Spoon the mousse into four small serving dishes and then grate over the remaining chocolate and serve.
